The Founder
Joana Hammond-Ahorlu is a trained social worker who practised in the UK for many years. Driven by a passion for excellence and a deep love for bringing people together through desserts, she founded Frozen Spoon in 2017.
What started as a vision rooted in quality and care has grown into one of Accra's most beloved dessert destinations. Joana's belief that every customer deserves something made with intention — not shortcuts — is the heart behind everything Frozen Spoon creates.
Our Story
Frozen Spoon was founded in 2017, with the first location established in Community 19, Tema. Since then, it has grown into a well-loved destination, now situated at Kass Towers in the Airport Residential Area.
Renowned for its rich, creamy, and delightful gelato, Frozen Spoon is more than just a gelateria — it is also a café and dessert spot offering indulgent treats such as freakshakes, waffles, pancakes, and other handcrafted desserts. With a focus on quality, comfort, and exceptional service, Frozen Spoon continues to create memorable experiences for every customer.

What We Do
We started with one freezer and a single conviction — that gelato made from real ingredients, in small batches, tastes completely different. It still does. Single-origin chocolate. Madagascan vanilla. Strawberries pressed the same morning they are served.
Biscoff pancakes. Chocolate-drip waffles. Freakshakes tall enough to photograph. Everything on the dessert menu is made to be the best part of your day — and we take that seriously.
Cappuccinos pulled properly. Americanos long and clean. Espresso the way it is supposed to taste. We do not rush the coffee, and neither should you.
Lebanese labneh sandwiches at 9am. Beef burgers at lunch. Spaghetti and meatballs when the afternoon stretches long. The menu is short because everything on it is made right.
Birthday dinners. Corporate lunches. Baby showers with gelato instead of cake — because why not. We host private and group events at Frozen Spoon, and we put the same care into the experience as we do into everything on the menu.
